UK Status Resident. Found locally throughout most of mainland Britain. Montgomeryshire Status Several very old records (1960's) from two sites in the north-east of the county. Wingspan : M & F,14-17mm. Confusion species A. nanatella, A. propinquella and A. kuznetzovi. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Univoltine)  Habitat Warm dry grassy areas. Foodplant Common knapweed, spear thistle, creeping thistle, melancholy thistle and burdock spp. Lifestage data Leaf mining/spinning. Eggs laid on leaf. Larva initially mines, then feeds externally in web under leaf, rolling leaf downwards. Pupates in detritus or soil. |
